Insanely Clever Marketing

It’s true! Humour in advertising can be very memorable. But any advertising must also be relevant to the product or service and compelling enough for people to contact you. So when you are thinking about the creatives to promote your business, know what your audience wants to hear from you. That may take some research and asking questions, but it will be worth it. Don’t sit facing the camera and dribble off a diatribe of how fabulous you are. BORING!!!! And hardly memorable.

One of the easiest ways to create your own advertising video is by using iMovie. This post is not about using iMovie but I will post something about that later. This post is about an easy way to have your message go viral. And one of the easiest ways to do that is to jump on a popular bandwagon.

At Mihell & Lycos, where I am Account Director, we wanted to have some fun with the viral ‘Hitler Reacts’ footage. Some of you may have seen various forms of this from the Moto GP to perhaps the most well-known, Hitler reacting to the news that Kanye West hijacked Taylor Swift at the Grammy’s by grabbing her award on stage and announcing it should have gone to Beyonce.

Jumping on the ‘Hitler Reacts’ bandwagon is an insanely clever way for small business to create something memorable. Download the raw footage, write a script to match the images and then add subtitles with iMovie. The one we did took me about 1.30 hrs. And it was HUGE fun!
