Promote Your Blog with Video

We are up to our eyeballs in the digital age so finding new and interesting ways to promote your blog can be time-consuming and expensive. Or you can produce a video. Expensive you say? It doesn’t have to be. You can promote your blog with video. I use Animoto and iMovie (see my post creating advertising to go viral). Both are great ways to express yourself visually and promote your blog with video.

Animoto is a very simple program whereby you pretty much just add images and videos to a set template. The FREE version is very very simple, or you can up-grade to get more options. All you need to do is select images from your own computer or use theirs. Simple. Animoto provides the soundtrack, does the sound mixing and image blending, and you can very simply add your logo and some text.

I up-graded because I wanted more time than the 30 seconds of finished video the free version provides, plus greater flexibility, music, templates and other features. If you want to promote your blog with video then the free version is still great to have a play and produce usable, and professional-looking videos.

Videos can then be uploaded to Vimeo, Wistia, YouTube, etc and shared as desired. I have created 33 videos using Animoto. I store them on Vimeo. You can promote your blog with video and have lots of fun doing it.

I’ve found iMovie to be more flexible but MUCH harder to work with than Animoto. Sure, iMovie also has some simple templates but they aren’t as dynamic and entertaining as Animoto.

I created this in iMovie to promote the launch of ‘The Parcel’ for Marie Claire. I then uploaded it to Vimeo for more flexible sharing.

I created this with Animoto to promote new season Kurt Geiger shoes. Again, I then uploaded to Vimeo which also provides stats in views, shares and likes.

Try it for yourself. Given 85% of women access information via their smartphone or mobile device, you can put your brand literally into the palms of thousands of people.

Have you used Animoto? Have you used iMovie? What did you think? Do you have any tips for other users?
